Story

Sammy Jo Brandon lost her battle with Triple Negative Breast Cancer on 14th May 2018, aged just 29.

Throughout her journey, Sammy Jo always dreamed of having children of her own. She was deeply saddened by the thought of children having to endure the same difficult cancer treatments that she had experienced.

Before she passed away, Sammy Jo made two final wishes. The first was that any money raised at her funeral should be donated to Children with Cancer UK. Thanks to the incredible generosity of family and friends on the day £6,485 was raised and donated in her memory.

Her second wish was for her Dad to write a book about her journey. After years of wanting to fulfill that promise, her story has finally been published in July 2026. When Life Goes Tits Up, written by Matt Brandon, shares Sammy Jo’s journey, her strength, her humour and the impact she continues to have on so many lives.

The Sammy Jo Brandon Foundation was officially born on what would have been Sammy Jo’s 30th birthday, 8th August 2018.

Since then, through the incredible hard work of Sammy Jo’s family and friends, alongside the generosity of our amazing supporters, we have raised almost £700,000 in her memory for Children with Cancer UK.

Our next goal is to reach £1 million by Sammy Jo’s 40th birthday on 8th August 2028.

With your help, we can continue to turn Sammy Jo’s vision into reality — a world where every child and young person survives cancer.

Every donation, no matter how big or small, makes a difference. Your support helps fund vital research into childhood cancers and provides much-needed support for children and their families throughout cancer treatment and beyond.

Sammy Jo’s Vision
