Samaritans Brighton and Hove is raising money for Samaritans, Brighton Hove & District

Brighton 10k 2025 · 6 April 2025 ·

We at Samaritans Brighton Hove and District support people in distress or despair. We listen day and night, 365 days a year, supporting 2000+ callers a month. We work in our community with those most vulnerable to suicide. We are all volunteers (no paid staff) and need £165 a day to keep open.

Story

Hello. We are Marie, Val, Katie, Jen, Jordan, Rob, Mark, Dean, Rachel, Robin, Mathew, Scott Laura, Bernie, Martyn, Joanna, Maria and Clare some of the 200 listening volunteers at the Brighton and Hove branch of Samaritans and our friends. When things seem bleak, and people are in distress or despair, we are there to offer a listening ear, no matter what time of day or night, 365 days a year.

Although all of us at the branch are unpaid, the branch needs £165 a day just to open, this means we need to raise around £60,000 per year to keep our branch operational and to ensure our phone lines are up and running.

That’s why some of our Volunteers and our friends are running/jogging/walking the Brighton Marathon 10K this year, and seeking sponsorship. If you’d like to support us in that, please use the link below.

Thanks for reading this, and for any support you can offer. Now we just need to run…
