Fundraising Story: Support Families of Prisoners
My name is Samson Krapp, and I serve as a lay missionary and lecturer at St. John Vianney Minor Seminary, under the Catholic Diocese of Vanimo, Papua New Guinea.
In my mission work, I have encountered one of the most silent yet heartbreaking struggles in our communities—the pain endured by the families of prisoners. When a father or mother is imprisoned, it's not just the individual who suffers, but an entire family is affected, especially women and children left behind to face life alone.
Many of these families—mothers with little children—are left without financial support. They struggle to pay school fees, find proper clothing, put food on the table, and sometimes even secure shelter. These are basic human needs, and yet they are unmet.
I have been moved to act. With the little monthly stipend I receive as a lay missionary, I’ve done what I can—raising small amounts to support these families. I have bought school uniforms, paid fees, provided groceries, and shared words of encouragement. But the need is far greater than what I can meet alone.
That is why I am reaching out to you, friends, kind-hearted individuals, and partners in faith and compassion. Together, we can make a difference. I am launching this fundraising initiative titled: “Support Families of Prisoners”—a mission to restore hope, dignity, and opportunity to those left behind.
Your donation—no matter how small—can help:
A child stay in school
A mother put food on the table
A family have hope again
It is said, “Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me” (Matthew 25:40). Let us become the hands and feet of Christ to these families. Together, let’s shine a light into their darkest hours.
Please consider donating today. Help turn heartbreak into healing.
Let us change our society together—one family at a time.
With gratitude,
Samson Krapp
