Hi. I'm Sam. Lover of unnecessarily challenging walks and this is my next challenge. I will always want to raise money as I go and felt this was an important and personal thing to raise money for. 2022 was my worst year so far mostly because of mental health. I had made some big changes in my life and it began to feel like I'd made too many changes all at once and I felt incredible anxiety and like I wasn't able to control anything. The anxiety I felt was debilitating and I carried it with me everywhere. I began some phone therapy and online therapy and to be able to talk to someone and get help with it really helped. Someone to say exactly how I was feeling and someone understanding and accepting how I was feeling. I know how important it is for people to talk about mental health and am really pleased I'm raising money for this charity to help in any way I can for people to have the support they need if they ever have any mental health issues. Everyone has mental health whether it's healthy right now or not doing so great. There should be no stigma and I know, for me, a huge walk is amazing for my mental health so cannot wait to get going on this brilliant Jurassic Coast hike.

Dorset Mind charity educates, challenges mental health stigma and inequality, and encourages recovery by empowering individuals to develop resilience. 

Their 1-2-1 & group support includes counselling, mentoring, support groups, active monitoring and a befriending service. These help people regain social skills and develop confidence. 

The charity also delivers educational wellbeing programmes for schools and workplaces and provide volunteer opportunities across all areas of the organisation.
