Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Later this year, I am running the Amsterdam Marathon, and in doing so raising money for City & Metropolitan Hospitals Charity (i.e. the hospital where I currently work - PSB for more details). More specifically, I am raising money for education, development and wellbeing fund for staff members, which can give above-and-beyond support to staff. We are all aware of the pressures on NHS staff, day-in, day-out, and sources of funding and support for staff are essential to ensure retention and to help prevent burnout. The charity itself spent a fantastic £87,000 on this area during 2023-24.

This is something particularly important for Resident (Junior) Doctors within the Trust. Tragically, two Resident Doctors - Dr Charlie Crook and Dr Milan Patel - both lost their lives this year, and the Trust has done an exceptional job supporting colleagues and friends during this challenging time, as well as providing commemorative services in memory of their lives.

By raising crucial funds, we can continue to ensure that staff at SWBH NHS Trust remain well looked after and supported through some of the more challenging times.

If you are able and willing to donate some money towards this cause, I would be incredibly grateful. Your donations can help motivate me through the challenges of the training program and some very creaky knees.

City & Metropolitan Hospitals Charity

City & Metropolitan Hospitals Charity is the official charity of Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust, supporting patients, families, and staff across City, Sandwell, Rowley Regis, and the upcoming Midland Metropolitan University Hospital, as well as local GP sites and community partners.

Our mission is simple: to enhance the experience of everyone using our healthcare services and improve life chances across our communities.

Every year, we support over 530,000 patients and more than 8,000 NHS staff through projects that go above and beyond what NHS funding alone can provide, from staff wellbeing and specialist equipment to patient comforts and spaces that promote dignity and healing.

We rely on the kindness and generosity of our supporters to make this possible. Your donation helps us transform lives across Birmingham and the Black Country, thank you for standing with us.
