Story
LATCH was established forty years ago in 1983 by a group of families and friends who recognised that children diagnosed with cancer or leukaemia and their families needed more than just medical support. They needed practical, emotional, and financial assistance to help ease the heavy burden they faced. Since then, the charity has supported hundreds of children, young people, and their families across Wales, all of whom are being treated at the Paediatric Oncology Unit at the Children’s Hospital for Wales.
As a doctor working in Cardiff and the Vale, I have seen firsthand the vital role this service plays in supporting families during some of their most challenging times. Families often rely on funding from generous donations to access the support that they need, which makes every contribution so important.
To help raise awareness and funds for LATCH, I’ll be participating in both the Newport 10k in April and the Cardiff Half Marathon in October. Your support will make a significant difference to the families who rely on this life-changing charity.
