Swimming the English Channel · 3 September 2024

Australian Wildlife Conservancy is the biggest private (not for profit) owner and/or manager of land for conservation in Australia. As a leader in the field, our mission is the effective conservation of all Australian native animal species and the habitats in which they live.

Story

While not widely known, Australia still has one of the highest deforestation rates in the world. Since 2004, Australia has cleared an area of forest 4x the size of Tasmania. Inertia of governmental action to tackle this issue makes the work of Australian Wildlife Conservacy (AWC) all the more essential. They are a non-for-profit organisation based in Australia, that collectively manage 2% of Australia's landmass. Relevantly, AWC uses your donations to purchase freehold land for protection, specifically endangered ecological communities.

In September 2024, I will be swimming the English Channel and am dedicating the swim to raise awareness for this non-for-profit. Please join me in supporting AWC to protect Australia's gorgeous forests and animals for future generations.

All expenses in swimming the channel (e.g. boat hire fees, airfares, accomodation) are covered by me :)
