National 3 Peaks

Stockport Grammar School is a co-educational, independent day school for children aged 3-18 years. We recognise the value of each pupil as an individual, and the importance of nurturing every aspect of their personality and potential – intellectual, creative, emotional, physical and spiritual.

Story

On July 12th and 13th, I will be joining 16 others in tackling the UK Three Peaks Challenge - an attempt to scale the highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales within 24 hours.

This challenge entails trekking 23 miles with a total ascent exceeding 3,000m, couple with over 500 miles of driving. We'll battle the notoriously unpredictable British summer weather, and push through blisters, hunger and exhaustion. But every step will be fuelled by a powerful purpose.

Two and a half years ago, one of our best friends, Ciaran, suffered a tragic accident on a weekend away. Sadly, he sustained a serious spinal injury which resulted in paralysis from the waist down and has confined him to a wheelchair.

Ciaran was a passionate climber and mountaineer, and this challenge is our way of attempting to help turn adversity into opportunity. Several members of the group have helped to create a fund to offer means tested financial support to pupils at Stockport Grammar School, Ciaran's alma mater. The goal of which is to offer young minds the chance to experience the transformative power of outdoor adventures.

Your donation, no matter the size has the power to change lives. It will open doors for students who would otherwise miss out on these character building experiences.
