Story

Have you ever noticed that life has certain synchronicities?

A month ago someone very close and important to me told me she’d found a lump - I of course told her not to worry, it would be nothing. A week later she’d been told she had stage one breast cancer. A week after that it was stage two and all of our lives changed.

Anyone who know me knows I’m a fixer… but I can’t fix this. But I HAD to do something to let her know she’s constantly in my thoughts and keep her smiling (probably laughing, knowing my skills in this particular arena - see below) …

Fast forward to another lovely friend mentioning a ‘danceathon’ in aid of Prevent Breast Cancer, aimed at having the National Breast Imaging Centre built in Manchester (more info below). Perfect, I thought! One problem: it’s this Friday so I’ve gotta get a wiggle on!

So I’m registered, deciding what to wear, what to take (to drink!! 😂) and how to stay upright - let alone doing something that resembles dancing - for 12 hours with only four 15 minute breaks!

And I’d ask you to give what you can please - anything at all - as well as maybe pop down and join us for an hour’s boogie as all are welcome! 🕺💃 We’ll be at Reform Radio in the Bonded Warehouse next to the Museum of Science & Industry - I can send you entry details if you’re up for it!

Thank you!

Prevent Breast Cancer are addressing the serious workforce shortages within breast imaging. The challenges have led to delays in breast cancer diagnosis, closure of breast centres, and reduced recruitment to research studies. Together, the charities are launching a £3.5 million appeal for a new National Breast Imaging Academy, Build To Beat Breast Cancer.

The National Breast Imaging Academy will offer excellent workforce training facilities, enable an extra 13,000 patients be seen each year and offer additional capacity for research into breast cancer diagnosis and treatment.

Prevent Breast Cancer are incredibly grateful for Louise Stephenson and the team at Rowan's Empowering Women Event for their amazing support.
