This November, I’ll be joining 11 incredible women on a self-funded 100-kilometer trek through South Africa’s breathtaking Drakensberg Mountains to raise $50,000 for The Black Mambas—the world’s first all-female, unarmed anti-poaching ranger unit, protecting endangered rhinos in Greater Kruger National Park.
Our fundraising supports Helping Rhinos, an international NGO dedicated to conserving these keystone animals—and empowering the women who safeguard them.
I’ve spent much of my life speaking up—for better food systems, climate change, for women, for communities left behind. But sometimes, advocacy needs to go beyond words.
This trek is my way of putting those values into motion—walking for those who can’t speak, whether that’s a keystone species on the brink of extinction or a woman striving to uplift her community.
It’s a journey that resonates deeply with me because it reflects everything I care about:
🌍 Environmental justice
👣 Action with meaning
👩🏾🤝👩🏼 Empowerment through community
The Black Mambas are doing more than protecting wildlife. They’re changing the face of conservation—using visibility, community trust, and education to create lasting change. Since 2013, their work has led to a 63% drop in poaching incidents, while inspiring the next generation of conservation champions.
They remind me that you don’t have to be a ranger, a scientist, or a “typical activist” to make a difference.
You just have to care—and show up. Step by step.
Every donation to this campaign helps fund ranger patrols, education programs, equipment, and salaries—so these women can keep protecting rhinos and uplifting their communities.
🦏 Every step we take is for the rhinos. Every dollar raised invests in a future where women lead, ecosystems thrive, and hope endures.
