Sands Aid Charity Football Match & Family Fun Day · 17 May 2025

Sands supports anyone affected by the death of a baby, works in partnership with health professionals to try to ensure that bereaved parents and families receive the best possible care and funds research that could help to reduce the numbers of babies dying and families devastated by this tragedy.

Story

On May 17th at Fernie Fields Sports Ground in Northampton, I will be hosting a 'Soccer Aid' style charity football match & family fun day in order to help raise awareness and money for a charity very close to my heart, Sands, the Stillbirth and Neonatal Deaths Charity.

On the 3rd of August 2003 my wife and I lost our first child, Tyler at 38 weeks following an emergency cesarean operation.

Having done smaller personal fund raisers, I wanted to do something on a much larger scale whereby I could involve the wider community and also include my current team Sands United. A team formed here in Northampton for and by bereaved fathers, who could support each other though our mutual love of football. What we have set up and achieved has led to over 40 other Sands United being formed all over the country!

Now I have decided to put on a Soccer Aid style charity football match called Sands Aid with family fun day and will involve a Sands United 11 v a team of Special guests.

My plan is to raise at least £1000 but I would love to go above an beyond and make this an event that people can be proud of being involved in and supporting me with 🧡💙
