Story
Welcome to my fundraising page for CoppaFeel!
This September, I’ll be setting out on a challenging, extraordinary, and genuinely life-affirming trek across the Great Wall of China. Over five days, I’ll be trekking alongside Gi Fletcher and a group of inspiring people, all in the name of checking chests.
This challenge isn’t about fighting another battle.
Cancer was the battle.
This is about movement, connection, laughter, and doing something that feels alive.
A few years ago, CoppaFeel! came to our WI and spoke about checking yourself and knowing your normal. I signed up for the reminders and checked every month.
One month, I found a lump the size of a pea.
Three weeks later, by the time treatment started, it was the size of an orange.
Everything that could go wrong did.
I was diagnosed with aggressive HER2+ breast cancer and went through chemo, surgery, and radiotherapy. I’m now four years on. I don’t get a “you’ve beaten cancer” moment, but every check showing no active signs of disease is a quiet win I hold onto.
My girls watched me keep going and choose courage even when it felt overwhelming. They’re the reason I live fully now and don’t wait for “one day.”
I created Mumma Has a Lump to help make breast cancer feel less scary and more human, especially for mums and children, and to show just how powerful early detection can be.
CoppaFeel! is on a mission to stamp out late diagnosis by encouraging young people to check their boobs, pecs, and chests regularly, know their bodies, and feel confident going to their GP if something doesn’t feel right. Their work helped save my life.
And I’ll be taking you with me.
Every person who donates will have their name added to my snood, so you’ll be right there with me in spirit, every step of the way.
Your donation supports my fundraising target, but more importantly, it supports CoppaFeel!’s life-saving work.
Thank you so much for your support.
