TWGGE Run 10k to Raise 10k · 28 March 2026

Lads and lasses!! It's time to lace up and get those bodies moving with our 'Run 10k to Raise 10k' challenge!! We are asking you to run 10k virtually or IRL in Manchester on Sunday 29th March 2026

Story

I am running 10k during the weekend of 28th & 29th March to raise money to support The Worst Girl Gang Ever Foundation, a charity that provides support and community to those experiencing pregnancy and baby loss.

In 2025, we went into the new year with dreams and visions of having a new family member and these were soon shattered. 2025 was a turbulent year as I experienced two very different first trimester miscarriages, and they were both very emotionally and physically challenging. I had only recently moved to a new country far away from beloved friends and family and it was difficult to find the support I needed where I live, until I found a podcast with a peculiar name – The Worst Girl Gang Ever (TWGGE). After listening to some episodes I could not believe there were so many other women having experienced the same emotions. I joined the TWGGE warriorship and WhatsApp communities and have never looked back.

Whilst we have received love and support from our closest and dearest, nothing has compared to the support I have received from the TWGGE community and I am always so grateful to the amazing ladies who make up the community for uplifting each other on the daily. No question has felt silly, no feeling has gone unrecognised. Pregnancy loss changes you in ways you cannot imagine, you are not the same person you were before it all happened and the TWGGE made me feel so validated.

Why I am running

These are some of the aspects of miscarriage I experienced and would like to raise awareness on, for those who may not know what its really like going through a difficult fertility journey and to also stand in solidarity with those who do:

- Sometimes there is no explanation for why it happened. No amount of tests or questions can give you the answers you seek.

- The grief is so real and so difficult to explain and it’s not easy to “just move on”. You are not just grieving the loss of a pregnancy or baby, you are grieving the future you had dreamt of for your family.

- The loneliness of miscarriage is also so real and so connection and community are so important. Anyone going through pregnancy/baby loss or infertility, should know that they are most definitely not alone. There is a whole community behind them to join and share their grief and all the other feelings that come with it.

- Someone going through this type of loss may seem fine, but they most probably are not. They’re just trying to survive because they have to for the sake of their daily lives but they still need all the support, check-ins, gentleness, love and compassion anyone can offer them.

- Empathy and kindness goes a long way. It’s important to be mindful of how and what you share or say to someone going through this type of loss – they will be happy for others but still feel the deepest grief for themselves.

- Every loss matters – it can be in the first trimester, third trimester, the complete loss of fertility altogether – it all matters and it is all very heavy.

- Miscarriage breaks you down and builds you back up with a resilience you never knew you had – so many of the women I have interacted with in the TWGGE community are incredibly inspirational and strong.

My husband, I and our sweet dog Ollie will be running/walking 10k to raise funds for the TWGGE Foundation so that they can continue to grow and offer support to others also navigating a difficult fertility journey. Funds raised go toward offering support and educational resources in the form of podcasts, webinars, workshops, and courses led by experts and also raising awareness and breaking stigmas on fertility topics. This is for a cause very close to our hearts and every donation matters!

Thank you for your support.
