Story
In 2012, I lost my grandmother Ellen to lung cancer. At only 64 years old, she was full of life, love, and (of course) polo mints. There is not a day that goes by that I don't miss the comfort of her laugh and hugs. She is also one of the only people I would have been taller than, and it is a great shame that she is not here for me to gloat.
Then again in 2017, cancer took my grandfather, Mohammed. He lived for his family and his absence can be felt every time we go home. Although there is a part of him that still remains with us, through my father and I's shared love for hummus and falafel.
By running the Blickling Half (my longest distance ever), I want to honour the family I have lost to cancer and support those currently battling it.
Big C is a cancer charity local to Norfolk, where I currently reside for university. Through support, research, equipment and education, they make a difference to the lives of local people affected by cancer.
I hope to raise a sum of £125 to support families that find themselves in a similar position to mine were in. Cancer is unforgiving, but together we can beat it. This is for you Nana and Sido ❤️
