Story

I am taking part in the Colchester and Ipswich Hospital Charity Colour Run in September. I am doing this to show my support particularly for Ipswich hospital.
My Gran spent so much time over the years in and out of hospitals due to her complicated medical conditions. I can remember visiting her in Ipswich hospital many times as I grew up.
I would like to give something back to show my thanks for all the care she received there over many many years.
My Gran died in Ipswich hospital in 2019 and I know she would be so happy that I am choosing to raise money for them.
There are probably not many departments in the hospital that she did not visit at some point, so it was very difficult to choose which particular department to raise money for. But I have chosen to support the Butterfly Appeal.
The Butterfly Appeal is a charity within the hospital that supports end of life patients and their families in difficult times.
The Butterfly Service makes sure no-one dies alone. The volunteers provide support, company and a comforting presence in the last days and hours of life. By being there and giving their time, whether that be sitting quietly by a patients bedside, reading stories, talking, playing music or simply holding someone’s hand, they make sure the patient feels loved, whilst reassuring and comforting their family and friends in what is inevitably a very difficult time.
By making a donation, you can help them continue to provide vital support and make sure no-one is on their own at the end of their life.
Please give whatever you can afford. I appreciate every penny.
It makes me feel very happy to know that my Gran is smiling down at me by doing something to help other people.
Thank you
