Story
I’m taking part in a ‘Walk for Renée’ this October, a fundraising walk from Runnymede to Putney in memory of our wonderful friend Renée Bessell, who we sadly lost last year to ALK Positive lung cancer.
ALK Positive is a rare and aggressive form of lung cancer, caused by a genetic mutation unrelated to smoking. It is most often found in younger, healthy non-smokers — frequently women. Tragically, it is usually only diagnosed at Stage 4, when the disease has already spread and there is currently no cure.
That’s why we’re raising money for ALK Positive UK. This charity provides vital support for patients and families, campaigns for earlier diagnosis, and funds research to improve treatment and survival.
Together with Ross (Renée’s husband) and the team, we’ll be walking distances from 5 km up to 50 km. I’ve set myself the challenge of completing the full 50 km. It will be tough, but nothing compared to what those living with ALK Positive face every day.
Every step, and every donation, helps fund ALK Positive UK’s work — giving hope, support, and a voice to those affected. Thank you for supporting us in Renée’s memory. 💙
