Story

Thanks for stopping by my JustGiving page!

I’ve always said I’d never run a marathon. Too old, too fat, too menopausal — and yet, somehow, here we are. Proof that you should never say never… especially when you’re grieving, hormonal, and impulsive.

But having lost my dear friend Pat this year, I decided to go for it! I always watched London Marathon with my Mom before she passed when I was a teenager, so London felt like the right one for me

After losing someone close to me, I realised just how short and precious life really is. So I’ve decided to do something big, bold, and frankly ridiculous: run the London Marathon. Yes, all 26.2 miles of it. On purpose.

This isn’t just about ticking off a bucket-list item (although trust me, it’s going straight on there so I can tick it off immediately after). I’m doing this for Orchard Vale Trust, a brilliant Somerset-based charity that supports adults with learning disabilities to live life to the fullest. They offer residential care, community support, and a whole lot of love, helping people build independence and confidence through meaningful activities and inclusive living. Having spent my career supporting people, this is a cause close to my heart

So while I’ll be wheezing my way around London in questionable Lycra, it’s for a seriously good cause.

Follow me on my training journey — which promises to be painful, sweaty, emotional, and full of snacks. I’ll be sharing the highs, the lows, the blisters, and probably the wine-fuelled regrets on dedicated social media accounts (coming soon).

If you can donate, I’d be forever grateful — and so will the amazing folks at Orchard Vale Trust.

Every penny goes toward helping others live with more dignity, joy, and independence.

Let’s do this. Together. (And yes, that includes you cheering me on with biscuits at mile 18.)
