Hello I’m Sara,

I’ve been very fortunate through my life not to need the services of the RUH very much but a large amount of my family and friends have.

Having accompanied and sat with family and friends I’ve watched how the staff (no matter who they are) care for the patients almost on a never ending roller coaster. The volunteers who man the shop, take drinks, newspapers etc around the wards all do an amazing job.

Now there is a lovely peaceful garden for patients and staff to make use of for some quiet time. All of this takes not only money and planning but also taking an idea and turning it into reality.

People may know me for also supporting a different charity but when I saw the Kenya 90k Trek Challenge for the RUHX charity I realised I could do my bit to pay back to the hospital. It also helps that I absolutely love Kenya and the people having been fortunate to holiday there a couple of times previously. It’s not going to be easy, it’s graded as 1 which is very challenging but if we don’t push ourselves once in a while life can be boring.
