So far we have paddled...over 300 miles (each) in training for our marathon of 40KM and our warm down Paddle Skedaddle event of 26km a few weeks later!

We're a group of over 40 & 50 something ladies, who thought if we could do 5km we most certainly could do 40km from Nottingham to Newark in the UKs biggest Stand up Paddleboard event!

It's only about 14,000 paddle strokes for about 8hrs! That's how serious we are to save our Ocean Lake.

We're normally fair weather paddlers and this challenge has seen us out in -5 , rain, hail and wonderful blue skied winter mornings.

It has taken grit, determination, lots of deep breaths and support from very understanding families over these last few months.

We're raising money to help the Harold Dean Charity (HDC) to purchase and secure the future of 'Ocean Lake' which supports so much wildlife and provides a unique safe and peaceful space for people to escape and enjoy non-motorised water sports and to 'just be' in this nature haven.

Protecting and preserving natural areas like this alongside modern life is a challenge and in the ownership of the HDC this resource is safe for many future generations of humans and wildlife to thrive.

The wonderful Ocean Lake has been vital for us to complete our winter training for this event. It has kept us sane and motivated whilst the physical fitness benefits were expected the wellbeing and emotional health of regularly experiencing the lakes magic is unmeasurable.

As paddlers and sailors we know having safe, clean (sewage free!) and accessible water to share compatibly with nature is a precious and vital resource for the future of the planet and human health.

We'd be very grateful for any support by way of contribution you can offer us as we complete this event in aid of something close to our hearts and is our small way of protecting the future environmental security.
