Sarah's fundraiser for Surfers Against Sewage

Sarah Luxton is raising money for Surfers Against Sewage

10k Walks in the South West

Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) is a charity set up in 1990 by people sick of seeing the ocean they love polluted. We campaign to protect the ocean and all it makes possible, by taking action on the ground that triggers change from the top. We're calling for an end to sewage and plastic pollution.

Story

I'm going to be doing a series of 10K WALKS IN THE SOUTH-WEST to raise funds for Surfers Against Sewage.

I have always loved going to the beach and swimming in the sea but it really saddens me that before I can visit one of our beautiful beaches in Devon or Cornwall, I have to first check the Safer Seas & Rivers app to make sure the water is safe to go in. We shouldn't have to do that!

I am extremely grateful for the app, don't get me wrong, but the waters should be clean and healthy year-round, wherever we choose to go.

It is not acceptable that people are getting seriously ill from a simple trip to the coast and having what should be, a beneficial dip in the sea (or river).

That is why I'm raising funds for Surfers Against Sewage. Any donation, big or small, is very much appreciated.

Surfers Against Sewage's mission is to unite, empower, and support individuals in protecting the ocean and all it makes possible. We are a community dedicated to safeguarding oceans, waves, beaches, and rivers. Through community action and campaigning, they fight to end sewage spills, plastic waste, and environmental destruction. Donations directly support their efforts to hold polluters accountable, push for stronger environmental laws, and empower local communities to protect their waters.
