Peace be with you- السلام عليكم

I am a pediatric interventional cardiologist based in Michigan, USA. God willing I will be in Ghazza as part of an 18 member medical team with Fajr Scientific, from April 27 to May 14.

When I mentioned this to friends and colleagues, there was an overwhelming outpouring of support to my Venmo!😊💜. In gratitude, I am creating this page as a conduit through which information and our good works can continue to flow.

Why Ghazza now?

The Palestinian medical teams are exhausted and depleted after 7 months of war, doing what they can with little anesthesia, antiseptic, antibiotics, basic meds. Trauma exists in the face of severe malnutrition, infection, and dehydration, feeding a cycle of poor wound healing and pain. Those who lost a child and losing the will to live, can still stroke from hypertension, or die from uncontrolled diabetes and infected wounds.

For me- it’s the children. In pain, some eerily calm, some praying, some wishing to join their dead families. Unpredictable- going from calm to screaming to laughing to searching wildly for a younger sibling. Regular illness doesn’t stop in war- premature babies, moms in childbirth hemorrhaging, kids with diabetes, chest pain, diarrhea, ear infections, brain tumors, headaches, ulcers, cancer, asthma. I have been blessed with a weirdly strong ability to not let things get to me- when things are horrible, all I feel is quiet. I’m a fairly good physician, and God willing will be able to cure many; but if they will die, I will hold them close as if they were my own. 💜

These medical missions will continue in 2 week blocks, and I do plan انشاءالله to go back as many times as is written for me.

Please also help me with a prayer: Pray that God helps to get us there safely with these much needed medications and supplies, and that God blesses our hands and thoughts with the skills to alleviate illness and pain.
