I’m taking on the marathon for Ovarian Cancer Action – in memory of my wonderful Mum, and to show my three boys that anything’s possible when you put your heart into it. I'll be documenting my journey through the Marathon Adventures of Mom so look out for me on Instagram and Facebook!

35 years ago, when I was just 20, I lost my Mum to ovarian cancer. It changed my life, and not a day goes by that I don’t think of her. This is the first time I’ve felt fit enough to take on something as big as a marathon, and I’m doing it in her name – and for my three boys, aged 17, 15 and 13, who sadly never got the chance to meet their wonderful grandma.

I often talk to them about her, and I hope this challenge shows them that with determination, anything is possible. As my Mum told me when she learned her cancer was terminal: “You’ll be a tough cookie at the end of this.” I’ll need to be to get through the marathon – but I’ll be running with her strength, spirit, and sense of humour in every step.
