Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nurse charity. Our nurses, called Admiral Nurses – who we continually support and develop – provide life-changing care for families affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease.

Story

From 26th of March a group of friends and I will be undertaking an ancient pilgrimage, walking a historic pilgrims' route from Long Melford in Suffolk to St Edmundsbury (Bury St Edmunds), approximately 35 miles, to arrive at the abbey in the morning of Good Friday to have our pilgrim badges blessed. All of this will be done in 16th century clothing as we are all reenactors at Kentwell Hall. We are wearing modern walking boots though. We will be staying overnight at various inns that would have existed if we were really walking this route in 1535 and in Chaucerian fashion we'll be exchanging tales to pass the time in the evenings.

Most of us in the group have chosen to raise funds for charity as we go and I am supporting Dementia UK in memory of my lovely mum who died just over a ear ago after living with dementia for almost 8 years.https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61556418712566
