English Channel Relay 2026
Campaign by SwimTayka (RCN 1176079)
The English Channel swim is seen as the Mount Everest of all swims as more people have climbed Mount Everest than have swum the English Channel. Swimmers will take part in a relay team of 6 from Dover to France, with the swim taking 12 - 18 hours.

Story

So…. I’ve gone and done a little thing and signed up to what will possibly be my biggest challenge ever - to swim the English Channel as part of a relay team 😬 (in June 2026 so I have some time to prepare and train, fear not!)

As most of you know I’m basically half fish. But that’s only because I was lucky enough to be born into a life where I had access to education and teaching, and thus was gifted the ability to swim.

Many, many others don’t. If you have a spare penny or two they would be greatly appreciated to help me reach my fundraising goal. The details are below of the very worth cause my little dip will be supporting. If you’re not in a position to donate then sharing also helps so that would be greatly appreciated too!

From the bottom of my heart thank you… your donations will help keep me dipping throughout winter to prepare for the swim hopefully sometime between 3rd-11th June 2026.

Drowning is a silent epidemic that claims an estimated 360,000 lives every year, many of them children.

Drowning is the 3rd leading cause of unintentional injury death worldwide. These are wasted lives and preventable deaths. SwimTayka's mission is to give disadvantaged communities around the world access to swimming teachers who can not only provide the life skills of swimming but create a legacy for today's children, who will grow up to teach the next generation.

Ever since our very first project took place in Huanchaco, Peru, we have received great feedback from volunteers and the locals who are involved in the projects. Each aspect of our programmes has proven valuable to the volunteers and local children. A past volunteer of our Peru project stated:

"In the three weeks, I spent with Bryan, Quique and the children, I saw huge improvements in confidence and ability. I am sure with the extra time, and funding Bryan and they have, the results will be remarkable!"
