A note to our music families: I wanted to give our students a chance to serve others through their music. A lot of our students have played for years and years under our tutelage. This will give them an opportunity to reach out with kindness and concern through their talent of music.
I chose HHF for this fundraising because I connected through in-depth interviews for a graduate class with the local Haitian diaspora, with the HHF, and with another school and orphanage in Haiti. As I heard their personal stories of their families left behind in Haiti facing the lack of food and medical care and of gang-controlled regions, my heart broke for them at a new level. It struck home for me at a deep level as I know what it is like to lack food and to need ongoing medical care because of an extreme medical illness (resulting in dysphagia)— not because of a lack of resources: food. To be without food is extreme suffering.
HHF brings healthcare services, education, and sustainable development to a population of over 250,000 people in over 100 rural mountain villages. There still so much to do, but HHF continues to change lives ~ one person at a time.
Our Mission: The mission of the Haitian Health Foundation (HHF) is to improve the health and well-being of women, children, families and communities in Haiti through healthcare, education and community development.
