Glasgow to Edinburgh Ultramarathon · 5 October 2024

We hold the state to account and challenge discrimination in the justice system around male violence against women and girls.

Story

Hi everyone,

On 5th October, I’m running a 57-mile ultramarathon from Glasgow to Edinburgh to raise money for the Centre for Women’s Justice (CWJ).

I’m running this ultra for the women I know, the women I don’t, and the countless stories of violence against women and girls—both the ones we hear and the ones we don’t. For every story that fills us with anger and hopelessness, we still have a long way to go.

CWJ is an amazing lawyer-led charity that fights for women and girls who've experienced violence, holding the justice system accountable. They do this through strategic litigation, legal support, and advocacy. CWJ has been involved in high-profile cases like challenging the Crown Prosecution Service on rape prosecutions, tackling police misconduct, and advocating for Daisy’s Law to recognise children born of rape as victims - such important work.

They bring together women's groups, lawyers, and activists to fight violence against women and girls - training frontline workers whilst handling thousands of legal inquiries and pushing for better police practices. They work closely with other charities like Rights of Women, Women's Aid, Southall Black Sisters, End Violence Against Women, and Rape Crisis England & wales.

If I can raise anything for CWJ, I’ll know I’ve contributed to a better future for all women. Any donation, no matter the amount, would be so appreciated.

But that fiver you’d spend on a pint? Please consider donating it instead!

Thank you.
