Chits' Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge for Tiny Tickers

Yorkshire 3 Peaks challenge · 6 September 2025
Our Tadhg was born with critical aortic stenosis and other related heart issues. He was poorly, needed interventions early on & will need surgery in future. We were relatively 'lucky' however, because it was picked up at our 20 week scan, meaning all the medical help he needed was prepared when he was born. Without that he would have gone into heart failure, making everything so much harder to fix. For some babies it's impossible to fix.
Congenital heart disease is one of the biggest killers of infants. Every 2 hours a baby is born with a serious heart defect. Tiny Tickers fund specialist training for antenatal sonographers, and equipment for postnatal wards to improve detection of heart defects as early as possible. They also provide peer & professional support for heart parents, which can be a life line in a really isolating experience.
I'm joining the Tiny Tickers team on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge, conquering Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough. It may be more of a wheezy crawl after some pretty nasty covid this year, but I'm inspired by my glorious Tadhg - honestly the strongest, most loving and grittiest person I've ever known.
Every step I take is acknowledging how lucky we've been, and will help Tiny Tickers improve the detection and care of heart conditions in other babies.
