Story
Anyone who knows me knows that the Red Balloon is a huge part of my life. I have worked here since taking over from the wonderful Yasmin in 2006, and it has been my constant through five house moves, my wedding, the birth of my son, through bereavements, through celebrations, and most recently through the entire school moving! At school we joke that it is like Hotel California and that you can never leave, but it’s true - it’s a huge family with all the crazy aunts and uncles you could ever hope for, and all the love and noise that goes with it.
In 18+ years of working here I have never undertaken a proper fundraising event for the place that I love, so here I go. A half marathon. Literally twice as far as I have ever run in my life. In front of my colleagues and students (no pressure!). I'm just hoping to a) not embarrass myself any more than usual and b) earn epic amounts of cake afterwards, but c) if I can put some money in the pot to help my school provide more therapeutic spaces for our young people (and we need them!) I’ll be a happy bunny.
