From Peak to Pew – Supporting Fradswell’s Church, One Step at a Time! Sarah’s Mountain Challenge for St James

The small church of St James the Less is a Grade II listed building with a chancel arch dating back to the thirteenth century. The chancel survives, but the main part of the church was rebuilt in 1764 and later enlarged in 1852. It is situated in the fairly isolated village of Fradswell, where agriculture and a strong connection with the land still plays a major role in the life of those living here. Think 'Far From the Madding Crowd'. Our Celtic style worship is lay led by a local farmer on the 1st Sunday of every month at 10am. Each service is followed by delicious home-made refreshments kindly donated by a member of our community.

From Embracing the Church to Climbing the Peaks

On Sunday 4th May, we’ll gather round St James the Less, Fradswell, to take part in our traditional Clypping Service – surrounding our church with love, prayer, and community spirit.

Then, on Monday 5th May, I’ll be taking that spirit with me on a very different kind of circle – a 16-mile trek across the Staffordshire 3 Peaks: The Roaches, Oliver Hill and Cheek’s Hill, each over 500m high.

I'm walking to raise money for our church – a place that quite literally stands at the heart of our village, and which has held generations of Fradswell folk in its arms.

If you'd like to sponsor me, you’ll be helping to keep that strong, loving circle going – not just this weekend, but for many years to come. Thank you so much for your support.
