Story
Hi Everyone!
This will be my second charity event for Endometriosis UK (I'm counting the cinema and bake sale of March 2023 as one event)
This year I'm going to be taking part in the annual Walk for Endo. The basics are walking 8000 steps a day, every day in July.
I've tweaked my step targets a little bit as there are two days I'll be out of action but I'm still going to aim for a minimum of 25 days hitting the daily target.
I'm not the most active person, i much prefer doing weights at the gym instead of cardio but i do enjoy a good walk. Give me fully charged phone and headphones, bottle of water and comfy shoes and im away 🤣
That being said this will help me stay motivated. I've got my schedule planned out for the month and will be using a lot of office days as a tool to hit the daily targets.
Now for the background bits!
I've been diagnosed with endometriosis, the time from first going to my GP to diagnosis has been years. I am currently being given Zoladex every 3 months to put my body into an induced menopause. I also take Tibolone HRT as add back therapy. Both are a massive help and honestly, I can feel the difference when I'm due another injection or if I'm not taking HRT.
When I'm having a flare up or any sort of bad day it can totally wipe me out. Hybrid working is such a big help these days, and I've got a good support network in work.
My current plan is to continue with this for the foreseeable future, and wait for an appointment for nerve block injections around my right hip area as I have got some nerve mapping damage around there.
There may still be an option to have my ovaries removed at some point but that will be reviewed in the future. I've had surgery once in 2015 which removed a haemorrhagic cyst and some adhesions. There is always risk involved with any type of surgery and this is no exception. Also with removing adhesions or having any sort of scar tissue created can become the perfect type of tissue for endometriosis to cling to. So right now, I'd rather no surgery. Unless absolutely necessary.
Please Share my page, donate if you can and if anyone would like to ask questions about Endometriosis then please ask away.
Thank You for taking the time to read all of this, it means a great deal to me. Xx
