Story
Crudwell 'Le Mans' 24 Hour bike ride is a community fundraising event where teams of all ages and ability compete to raise the most sponsorship. It is also fun to see which team can complete the most laps in 24hrs.
As well as raising funds for improvements to Crudwell village hall and its surrounds, this year 80% of funds raised by each team go to the charity of their choice, in our case Rugby for Heroes
For the past few years, a tight-knit squad of enthusiastic U18 rugby players has brought their grit, laughs, and competitive spirit to this event. But this year, with the rest of the team sidelined by crucial exam commitments, the squad is down to just one man. Undeterred and fiercely determined to keep the team's legacy alive, Fred is stepping up to take on the ultimate challenge: a solo 24-hour entry.
Fred will be riding in support of Rugby for Heroes, an inspirational charity that helps military veterans transition back into civilian life by providing them with rugby coaching qualifications.
This cause is deeply personal for Fred. It perfectly bridges the sport he is incredibly passionate about with a profound respect for the community he aspires to join for his future career. By supporting him, you are directly supporting those who have served.
The Ultimate Challenge: 280 Miles in 24 Hours
To say this is a grueling undertaking is an understatement. To give you an idea of the sheer scale of Fred's target:
The Goal: 280 miles
The Timeframe: 24 continuous hours
The Equivalent: Cycling roughly from London to the border of Scotland—completely solo, with no teammates to pass the baton to, and no breaks from the physical and mental exhaustion.
Every single pedal stroke Fred takes through the grueling night shift will be fueled by your generosity. While 20% of the proceeds go right back into improving Crudwell village hall and its community spaces, a massive 80% of everything Fred raises will go directly to Rugby for Heroes.
Fred is putting his fitness, stamina, and willpower to the absolute test for a brilliant cause. Please consider donating to back his 24-hour solo mission—every pound, dollar, or word of encouragement makes a massive difference!
Through JustGiving, you can sponsor us and donations (including GiftAid) will be quickly processed and passed to charities. We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.
