Team: Cross Bay Walk for The Birchall Trust

The Cross Bay Walk · 20 May 2026

The Birchall Trust does incredible work by offering support to anyone aged 4 and above affected by rape, sexual abuse or sexualised violence in Cumbria and Lancashire. What this looks like practically is summarised below. Of course, it is difficult to fit in all the fantastic work that goes on at The Birchall Trust, so please check out the website if you’d like to read more about what they do: https://www.birchalltrust.org.uk/ - Providing face to face and remote trauma-informed counselling services - Delivering play therapy, creative and sand tray therapy for children aged 4 and above - Offering pre-trial therapy sessions to adults and children whilst involved in the criminal justice process - Working with parents, carers, families, and friends of people affected by rape, sexual abuse, or sexualised violence - Holding group, peer support sessions and offer outdoor therapies - Delivering educational programmes, training, and consultancy to other agencies – voluntary and statutory - Providing digital information and resources - Raising awareness of the wider issues around rape, sexual abuse, or sexualised violence within our community Every single donation is important. Every single donation will support The Birchall Trust, helping to ensure no one has to deal with rape or sexual abuse alone.

About our challenge:

To fundraise for The Birchall Trust, we are taking part in a Cross Bay Walk! The Birchall Trust are a local charity that support people affected by rape and sexual abuse.

Taking part in a Cross Bay Walk is an exceptional way to enjoy the stunning beauty of Morecambe Bay. Crossing the sands with an experienced and knowledgeable guide is the only way to traverse the ever-changing flats and channels, and this amazing experience is a must for visitors to the area.

People have been crossing the sands with a royally-appointed guide since the 1500s, so come and enjoy this historic walk and immerse yourself in Morecambe Bay's unique scenery and wildlife.

ARNSIDE TO GRANGE WALK

A historic bay walk across the bay from Arnside to Grange. Although the walk dates back to the era of Henry VIII and the original route was from Hest Bank to Kents Bank, due to the soft sand at Hest Bank therefore the route is now Arnside to Grange. Today the walk from Arnside is a lovely walk with a varied terrain and is between 5.5 to 9 miles depending on the safest route.

📅 Date: Saturday 2oth June 2026

⏰ Start Time: 10 AM

🚶‍♂️ Length: between 4-6 miles depending on the route

📍 Start Location: Arnside Village

🏁 End Location: Grange over Sands

We are really excited to fundraise, train for, and complete this event. We appreciate any and all donations.

If you have any questions about the walk please contact us at community@birchalltrust.org.uk
