Story
I am running the Dublin Marathon on October 26, 2025, in memory of a great friend, Richard Young, editor of Hertfordshire Life magazine. I wanted to honor their legacy in a meaningful way. Tragically, they passed away at the age of 49 in 2022 due to a brain tumour, leaving a baby boy and this incredible charity feels like the perfect tribute.
Having previously completed both the Edinburgh and London Marathons, I am now preparing for this challenge at the age of 53. It has been quite some time since I last ran any distance—2017 to be exact—and I know this journey will be tough. Brain tumours are responsible for more deaths among children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer. Yet, shockingly, only 1% of national spending on cancer research is allocated to this devastating disease. This is simply unacceptable!
I am fundraising for Brain Tumour Research, the only national charity dedicated to funding long-term, sustainable research in the UK. My target is to raise £700 to support their vital work. Please consider contributing to this important cause; together we can make a difference and help find a cure.
