Story
This year, I’m taking on the Bantham Boomerang — a 3–8km open-water swim in the beautiful Avon Estuary to raise money for Level Water.
The Boomerang starts at Bantham Beach (home of the famous Swoosh). Swimmers head upriver with the incoming tide, then when the tide turns… so do we. We swim back downriver with the outgoing tide, swooshing back into Bantham Beach and the finish line.
Depending on my speed and how well I work with the tide I’ll swim somewhere between 3 and 8 kilometres on the day. It’s a challenging and unpredictable course, but that feels fitting for a cause that’s all about determination and opportunity.
I’m swimming to support Level Water, a charity that provides one-to-one swimming lessons for children with disabilities. For many of these children, access to swimming isn’t straightforward yet it’s a life-saving skill, a huge confidence builder, and a source of joy and independence.
Every donation will help fund specialist swimming lessons for children who might otherwise miss out.
If you’re able to support me whether that’s the distance of a coffee or a kilometre of the swim I’d be hugely grateful. Thank you for helping make a difference. 🌊
