Story
I'm cycling across Scotland
This year I'm joining the bp Coast to Coast cyclists to raise money for a very worthy cause - helping children in Ukraine continue their education.
I last did the bp Coast 2 Coast cycle in 2011, enough time for me to forget how bad the Scottish weather can be and how big the potholes are!
So over a (hopefully warm and sunny, but probably wet and windy) weekend in May, I'll be cycling over 200 miles across the Scottish countryside from Gairloch to Aberdeen.
Any amount you can donate is very much appreciated and will make a big difference to the children we are supporting.
Your donation will make a difference
Ythan Valley Rotary and Aberdeen Deeside Rotary have been involved in many projects supporting communities in the UK and abroad. This particular project will provide laptops for displaced children in the Kharkiv area of Ukraine to allow them to continue their studies.
Ukraine is being ravaged by the illegal Russian invasion: not only are children being killed, injured or orphaned but 90% of schools are closed and an entire generation is in danger of growing up without a proper education. There is an urgent need to provide laptops so that the children can learn online from wherever they are sheltering.
Kharkiv International Rotary (twinned with Ythan Valley Rotary) has established a supply line for reconditioned laptops with adequate facilities for child learning for only $150 each.
By providing laptops to allow study at home, this project will make a huge difference to the lives and education of many Ukrainian children.
