Sarah Houston is raising money for South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust Charitable Fund
In memory of Daphne Houston
We support South East Coast Ambulance Service, which provides 999 and 111 care across Kent, Sussex, Surrey and North East Hampshire. Donations fund projects that support staff, community volunteers, improve patient care and strengthen community response - helping every second count.

Story

On Monday 26th May, my mum suffered a cardiac arrest at home, and a 999 call was made.

Within eight minutes, the SECAmb crew arrived and were incredible from start to finish. A total of two ambulances, a paramedic car, and an ambulance car attended to help Mum, for which I am extremely grateful. Working together, they were able to get her heart beating independently and ensured she was safely transferred to Medway Maritime Hospital.

Their bedside manner and overall care are things I will always be thankful for. They made sure I reached the hospital and continued to check in on me even after their shift ended.

Sadly, Mum passed away on Tuesday 27th May, in the ICU, surrounded by loved ones. She was no longer in pain from pancreatic cancer, DVT, and blood clots.

We will be celebrating her life on Saturday 28th June 2025, 10am at Medway Crematorium. If you are interested in attending, please do get in touch to let us know.

If you would like to do something in her memory, please consider making a donation to thank the crew for their efforts on that Monday evening.
