We make the discoveries that defeat cancer to improve the lives of patients everywhere

Story

My name is Sarah Hudson and on 27th September 2022 I was diagnosed with breast cancer and a further scan and investigation confirmed it was Invasive Lobular Cancer (ILC). I’d never heard of ILC. It is the second most common type of breast cancer yet has no specific treatment. 1,000 people a day are currently being diagnosed with this type of disease.

Researchers at The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) in London believe with more funding specifically for Lobular breast cancer research, they can fully understand the biology of ILC. This is the vital next step to getting specific treatment needed to improve outcomes.

Dr Susan Michaelis launched the ‘Lobular Moonshot Project’ on the 25th May 2023, seven months after my surgery. The project seeks to raise £20,000,000 for a 5 year research project into ILC by ICR.

To help raise funds for the Lobular Moonshot Project (lobularmoonshot.org) I am joining Dr Susan Michaelis on Saturday 26th August and walking 20 miles from Horsham to Shoreham.
