David Lewis was founded in 1904 as a safe haven for people with complex needs by a local philanthropist David Lewis.

Nestled just outside of Alderley Edge within 200 acres in the Cheshire countryside, our campus style site in Warford offers 20 residential homes (with 7 more in our local community), daytime opportunities, a school and college, and specialist therapeutic and medical support for people with epilepsy, autism and other complex needs.

Each year, around 1100 staff help around 300 people achieve things they and their families never thought possible.

What truly sets us apart is our peaceful rural site, a sanctuary where those who find the world loud, busy, or overwhelming can feel calm and safe. Much of our learning and daily life embraces nature. Parents often share how much they value the independence their loved ones gain here and the freedoms they enjoy, that might never be possible in a more urban setting.
