I am raising funds for our pleural service to have ongoing access to virtual reality headsets. Our patients often undergo painful investigations for cancer which can be traumatic and anxiety provoking. By using a calm, fully immersive virtual reality experience patients have reported pain and anxiety levels are much improved. Rather than remembering the actual procedure they are leaving the department still chatting about the virtual reality escape.

So far our patients have said:

" the VR headset lets you focus on scenery rather than what you think might happen. It is a lovely distraction and a must for everyone"

" The VR headsets are taking a different direction in medical care. The VR headset reduced my anxiety levels during the procedure"

The virtual reality escapes include being on the beach, going around the world, taking a nature walk as well as focusing on breathing exercises.

We would very much like to offer the headset for all of our pleural patients undergoing a procedure so any help towards reaching our target would be greatly appreciated.
