Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page, every penny will help and I cannot thank you enough, we really will make a difference.
Every two hours, someone’s life changes forever and having been involved in the sport of horse trials for many years I have seen first hand how 'one left leg' can lead to catastrophic and life changing injury.
There’s no cure yet for spinal injury, but Aspire can make such a difference to those whose lives can change in a blink of a second.
For me it’s the ultimate challenge, being part of a team of 6 that will swim the Channel together. Whilst I may be an experienced distance swimmer for those that know me you will know my love of rubber and lakes. The Channel is oh so different.
I am being stripped of my beloved wetsuit and am practically going naked!!
The English Channel is cold, unpredictable and will feel vast as we swim alongside our little boat, dwarfed by the ferries and container ships around us.
Not to mention the waves and jelly fish, the latter of which sounds least terrifying at this stage!
This is the ultimate challenge for me and our team, a bunch of strangers who will embark on this together in 2026, all with the goal of raising a ton of money for Aspire and landing in France, hopefully in July 2026, tides and weather depending.
Please please dig deep for me, every penny will keep my arms turning when the cold penetrates my bones and the fear kicks in, and please start doing the weather god dance for a mild start to 2026!
Thank you! x
DECEMBER
So it begins
7 Dec 2025
Lido Temp 7 degrees.......
FEBRUARY
So February is already upon us! A fabulous team meet up, quick dip, and a lot to take on board (‘cuse the pun!) from our fabulous boat leader…
Managed 3 lengths in the lido (!) at 7 degrees and 12 mins in the ‘hot tub’ which hovers around 6-9 degrees. The tub has been a god send, 3-4 times a week dipping and it’s a lot easier than it was!! Rocking the bright red lobster skin post tub look!
Only swimming about 3 hours a week at the moment, all pool based, 2 x club drill sessions and the rest just plodding along. Trying to keep a rolling average of 8km but think it’s about 7km atm, plus 2 x strength based gyms and a couple of 5km minimum runs. Cardio is way down compared to usual but hey ho, will warm up quicker if I’m having to work harder 😂!
Fun but hard work but doing my absolute best to get ready for this amazing challenge, thank you all once again for your support!
