Story
I’m raising money for The Pituitary Foundation while taking part in the Whinlatter Forest half marathon, for an amazing little boy, Declan! This charity supports everyone in the pituitary community, every step of the way. Not only am I doing the half marathon, if I hit my fundraising goal I will do a parkrun in a dinosaur outfit!!
Declan and his family are some of the strongest people I know! They deal with so much on a daily basis.
Declan has multiple Pituitary hormone deficiency, which he has had since birth. Declan is 5 years old now. This condition means that he can't produce the life sustaining hormones that we do naturally. He takes medication over the course of the day, has regular injections, and has to be monitored closely.
The Pituitary Foundation are a dedicated team offering practical, emotional and peer support to everyone living with, or impacted by a pituitary condition.
I’ve been running long distance for over 3 years now, so to some people who know me a half marathon won’t seem like much of a challenge for me. But, it’s going to be a massive challenge and that’s why I want some extra motivation which is coming in the form of fundraising! I injured my foot in my last ultra marathon, which resulted in a few months of no running. I then started 2025 having stomach surgery, which resulted in no running. Now I’m able to exercise again, the furthest I’ve ran is a 5k! So this is going to be me getting from 5k to a half marathon in 6 weeks!
