Story
In October, I will be running the Royal Parks Half Marathon in aid of Marie Curie.
If you know me, you know I have never been a runner — so this is a huge challenge for me! But I couldn’t think of a better reason to do it than to support such an important charity.
Marie Curie nurses are a lifeline for people living with a terminal illness and for the families supporting them. Their compassion, expertise, and dedication make such a difference in the hardest moments.
My Nanny Nell passed away in January at the amazing age of 93. Even with our big family caring for her, the Marie Curie team was essential in those last weeks — even showing up during an electrical outage! Just a couple of days after her funeral, Marie Curie offered me a charity place for this run, so it definitely felt meant to be.
We were lucky to have my nanny for so many years, but for much younger people facing a terminal illness, and the families going through it with them, the support Marie Curie provides is even more vital.
Here’s how your donation could help:
£3 – funds a meal for a patient in one of their hospices
£26 – funds an hour of bereavement support by phone or webchat
£207 – funds nine hours of overnight nursing care in a patient's home
I’ve set myself the goal of raising £500. Every pound really will make a difference — and will help keep me motivated through the long training runs!
Thank you so much for supporting me and Marie Curie. 💛
