I have been working in Secondary Education for over 12 years now, however, only within the last couple of years our school lost three amazing pupils in the space of 3 months, two of which to cancer, as well as some colleagues who have also lost family members in this way recently. The impact on our school has been huge. I can’t help letting these sad moments affect me and feel heartbroken for the families who now have to spend the rest of their lives dealing with this loss. Losses like this really pull communities together, our school community and friends have done lots of amazing events to remember the pupils we have lost. The resilience of such young people and bravery is outstanding.

The profound impact these tragic events have had on me has only fuelled my determination to make a difference. Participating in the London Marathon offers a unique opportunity to channel my grief into positive action, honouring the memories of those we've lost while supporting a cause dedicated to helping others navigate their own battles.

I am honoured to support and raise funds for Teenage Cancer Trust to help bring about a world where young people live longer, have better lives, free from the fear of cancer. I will do anything to help prevent people from going through the heart ache that my friends, colleagues and school community have with loss of loved ones.
