Sarah's swim for the Liam Finnerty Charitable Trust

Sarah Osgood is raising money for Liam Finnerty Charitable Trust

Go Swim 2026 - Loch Tay · 15 August 2026 · Start fundraising for this event

Following the sudden loss of Liam Finnerty, The Liam Finnerty Charitable Trust was founded to continue the kindness Liam & passion for helping others and creating opportunities for those around him. Alongside our community, local schools and organisations, we identify where support is needed most to create lasting, positive change.

Story

I've recently taken up open water swimming in May - something to take me out of my comfort zone, and quieten my mind. Naturally, I've decided to step even further out of my comfort zone and decided to take part in two organised swims!

On 15th Aug I'll be taking part in Go Swim at Loch Tay

On 12th September, I'll be taking part in Go Swim in Loch Morlich.

I'm swimming 750m skins (swim cossie only, no wetsuit) in both events. I have no idea whether I can swim 750m....the sea doesn't have walls like a swimming pool does! But I do know that I don't quit.

I've chosen to fundraise for the Liam Finnerty Charitable Trust. Set up by the Finnerty's after Liam passed away suddenly just a couple of days before Christmas, they aim to help youngsters in the Nairnshire area engage in outdoor activities and experiences. Liam's mum, Sharon, took to cold water swimming not long after Liam's death; seeing her journey gave me the kick up the bum to stop watching life from the sidelines, and to do the things I would find an excuse not to!
