Story

I am fundraising for an amazing project that Fitmums and friends run this is the forest school for children and young people who have experienced the bereavement of someone. This work is so important, giving children the opportunity to be with other children who have suffered bereavement to get important support from the adults and counsellors running the group.

I entered the ballot for the marathon thinking my odds would be the same as winning the lottery and thought I’d get the losers jacket as they are awesome but I ended up getting in 😂 this is my first run longer than a half marathon I’m a bit scared but so proud I can run for such an important project, it would be amazing if you could support it any donation will be very gratefully appreciated x

Together in Grief – The Forest Project is a free, group programme run by Fitmums & Friends which supports children and young people who have experienced the death of a loved one. Outdoor forest activities and bereavement support help them explore, understand and express their grief. To date, more than 60 children have taken part.

If Together in Grief – The Forest Project could help a young person you know, please get in touch: 📧 heather@fitmums.org.uk or 🌐 https://fitmums.org.uk/support/together-in-grief-the-forest-project

Since Founder and Chief Officer Sam Barlow, very sadly lost her Husband Mike in 2020, the charity has gone on to develop support for people who have experienced bereavement. This support is in the form of Grief walks, Yoga for Grief and a special Forest Project for children who have experienced bereavement.

Fitmums and Friends also delivers sessions support people with visual impairment to be active and a special Menopause Programme to support ladies to be more active and understand the benefits of this during this period but crucially through life.

Please support us through donating to allow the work of Fitmums and Friends. These funds will be used to further the charitable aims and support people to become and remain active, while feeling the support of the Fitmums and Friends community and reaping the benefits on wellbeing.
