Story
1 in 8 men will get Prostate Cancer and my lovely Dad is one of the unlucky ones. Currently undergoing treatment, it can be brutal, with pretty unpleasant side effects for an 85 year old.
So, whilst I'm making the most of my fifties, feeling fit and healthy, I thought I'd raise funds for Prostate Cancer UK, to help find a cure and support the men with it, as well as their families.
On 11th August, my friend Karen and I are swimming from one end of Lake Windermere to the other. It's the largest lake in England and it's a whopping 17km in length. It's described as an ultra marathon swim.
I first started open water swimming 3 years ago and have undertaken a few long swims but nothing as huge as this! Plus I'll be swimming it in skins (no wetsuit) and relying on my own buoyancy and ability to deal with the 15-18 degrees of water temperature over 7+ hours.
So, if you're in awe of my efforts or just want to support this worthy charity, please give generously.
Thank you 🙂
