Story
Two years ago, after many years of progressively worsening symptoms, I was diagnosed with Premature Ovarian Insufficiency (POI). Or in less medical terms, my ovaries didn't work, and I was essentially experiencing menopause. I had never heard of this condition, even though it affects about 3 in 100 women under 40.
Having, and being diagnosed with, POI is both mentally and physically exhausting. In addition to the extreme fatigue I was experiencing, I had to suddenly navigate a complex medical system to get treatment, and deal with finding out that a part of my body that is a key part of being a woman didnt work.
I am raising money for the Daisy Network, an amazing charity for people with POI that helped me feel less alone, and gain the skills and knowledge to find a way back to health. This money will enable them to provide people with POI information and the latest research findings on various aspects of POI, offer support to all affected by the diagnosis, and continue to raise awareness for the condition worldwide.
