Story
Last year on the 16th of October, the world lost a true legend.
When it comes to speaking and thinking about Ryan, you can’t help but smile because that’s pretty much all he did!
Ryan was one of a kind, and at the age of 43 he was taken far too soon from his loved ones.
With the blessing of his wife, Jenny, who is also my friend of over 40 years (yes, we are THAT old!) and his daughter Wren, aged 4, I am dedicating my latest fundraiser to the memory of Ry.
On the 24th - 28th of August I will be taking on the Yorkshire 3 Peak challenge consecutively for 5 days. At 24 miles a day, this is almost the equivalent of 5 marathons in 5 days.
Ryan loved to walk and would often be seen around the local village with his four-legged side kick Laika, so it was a no brainer to do a walking challenge.
Ryan was cared for in his final months at Wakefield Hospice, therefore all donations received will go straight to the Hospice to support patient care.
For those that didn’t know Ry, I’ll leave you with these words from his wife. This only scrapes the surface as to how much he was loved and what a top fella he was:
“Ryan lost his battle against an insurmountable foe which took his life away in just 8 short months.
He fought valiantly through the whole journey and remained positive and dignified right to the end.
I feel like I’ve lost half of myself. My soul mate, my partner in crime, my drinking buddy, my teammate in the zombie apocalypse! There will always be a part of me missing and I will look for you everywhere I go. I will love you forever”
RYAN . . . This one’s for you bud ❤️
