Story
Matthew Wilson was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2021 — a type of blood cancer that originates in plasma cells. While it can be treated, it is not yet curable. According to the latest statistics, just over 50% of myeloma patients in England will live at least five years after diagnosis, and only a third will live for 10 years or more.
I’ve been deeply inspired by Matthew’s treatment journey and his passion to help find a cure for blood cancer. He is an inspirational leader who has had a profound impact on my career and on many others.
The funds raised from this event will support scientific research and invest in the brilliant scientists working to improve treatment options, survival rates, and quality of life for people living with multiple myeloma. With more funding, we can accelerate progress toward the day when a cure is found.
This cause also resonates personally. Advances in blood cancer research have the potential to improve outcomes for a range of other illnesses. My mum has lived with rheumatoid arthritis since her early 30s, a condition that doubles her risk of developing lymphoma — another form of blood cancer.
Please join me in supporting this vital cause. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, makes a difference — and I am truly grateful for your support.
