Story
I am running a half marathon for charity despite the fact my body and personality are both strongly anti running.
In April 2026 I will be attempting the London Landmarks Half Marathon for The Movement Charity. This is a bold move given that I do not like running and running does not like me. Our relationship is strained at best. But somehow I have still agreed to attempt 13.1 miles around London.
The reason is The Movement Charity! The Movement works with women who, for very real reasons, don’t feel able to move freely anymore. For many women who have experienced domestic abuse, trauma or other serious disadvantage, something as simple as going for a run, joining a class or exercising safely can disappear. Control, fear, finances and safety can all make movement inaccessible. They work with refuges and support organisations to offer safe, trauma informed sessions that help women rebuild confidence, strength and a sense of independence.
So in April I will be attempting 13.1 miles through London. I say ‘running’ but realistically this will involve a mixture of jogging, walking, negotiating with my legs and possibly crawling near the end. If you are able to donate anything at all it would mean a lot and will support an incredible charity.
Thank you for supporting the Movement and for funding what will almost certainly be the slowest personal crisis anyone has had across central London.
